Crime
It is very easy to focus on ASB as the only crime happening at the moment. Linton is subject to the wide spectrum of crime just like every other town and village in the country. We are fortunate that it is not as abundant as in other areas. But it does mean that when something does occur, it has a bigger, stronger impact on our community than if we were used to such crimes.
Distraction burglaries are becoming a very serious and repeated crime in our neighbourhood. The police have made this an issue for their policing priorities and are putting more resources into it. I arranged a meeting aimed at our elderly residents (who appear to be the main targets) to help them recognise and take appropriate action against Distraction Burglary and Rogue Traders. This meeting was held on the 17th April at Linton Village Hall. The police were present, together with Trading Standards, Crime Prevention Partnership and the Bobby Scheme and residents considered it very informative.

Crime thrives when it is allowed to do so. I wrote an article in the Linton News in February stating that we must take more responsibility for safety and security, both as individuals and as part of the community. I would like us all to know our neighbours. I would like us to take an interest in what is going on around us and not turn a blind eye. This does not mean prying into other people’s affairs, but that we make a positive, healthy commitment to ourselves to care for our community and the people in it.
We now have a very active police presence in the Linton area. Our new police constable P C Rebecca Parkin is ably supported by PCSO’s Zally Huseyin and Chis Pulley, and when needed Leanne Allan. E-cops is now an established internet vehicle for receiving information and for the public to advise our local police of non-urgent issues. You can sign up to E-cops at:

The telephone number to report crimes remains the same 0845 456 456 4. Please use this number at all times unless it is an emergency in which case please use 999.
